{"id":45,"date":"2012-02-09T23:01:26","date_gmt":"2012-02-09T23:01:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alaskagold.com\/blog\/?p=45"},"modified":"2012-02-09T23:01:26","modified_gmt":"2012-02-09T23:01:26","slug":"is-the-aurora-happening-tonight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alaskagold.com\/blog\/2012\/02\/09\/is-the-aurora-happening-tonight\/","title":{"rendered":"Is the Aurora happening tonight?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s a verifiable fact that the Alaskan Winter is cold and dark.\u00a0 The average January low temperature in Valdez is cold and in the Copper River valley REALLY cold.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t mind the cold, the dark might drive you crazy. No, I&#8217;m serious.\u00a0 Look up seasonal affective disorder.\u00a0 It&#8217;s no joke.<\/p>\n<p>But the winter is awesome.\u00a0 Awesome get over used and probably cliche.\u00a0 But the Alaskan winter is &#8216;awesome&#8217; &#8211; jaw dropping, spine tingling, mind blowing awe inspiring Alaskan Winter.<\/p>\n<p>And, like most Alaskan stuff that&#8217;s awesome &#8211; it&#8217;s certainly not the man-made stuff.\u00a0 Although, a mid-winter house party or backyard bonfire or Bear Tooth Concert are pretty cool.\u00a0 They really don&#8217;t match up with the natural wonders the winter has in store.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s see &#8211; Horefrost, the way headlines look in ice fog along the Richardson Highway, epic snowdays inside, snow shoveling for money, Sundogs, broadies in icy parking lots, late sunrises, early sunsets, long long nights, the list goes on&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>And, the cool thing is that -different than the summer &#8211; the experiences are for you and your close friends.
