{"id":87,"date":"2012-03-08T15:37:42","date_gmt":"2012-03-08T15:37:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alaskagold.com\/blog\/?p=87"},"modified":"2012-03-08T17:00:19","modified_gmt":"2012-03-08T17:00:19","slug":"iditarod-update-jim-lanier-is-in-first-place","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alaskagold.com\/blog\/2012\/03\/08\/iditarod-update-jim-lanier-is-in-first-place\/","title":{"rendered":"Iditarod Update: Jim Lanier is in first place!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/iditarod.com\/race\/current-standings\/\">Iditarod | Last Great Race on Earth\u00ae<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here we are so far.\u00a0 We starting tracking the last spot, as a lark.\u00a0 But, now I&#8217;ve got Iditarod Fever.\u00a0 This got kicked up a notch when I &#8216;saw double&#8217; &#8211; of course I&#8217;m talking about the Berington sisters.<\/p>\n<p>And, when I think of beautiful ladies, I think of my mom who lives in Valdez.\u00a0 And, while she doesn&#8217;t have Iditarod fever &#8211; Yet, as I hear it is highly contagious &#8211; She does know some of the stories reported in the news.\u00a0 Like one of our favorites &#8211; Dan Seavey has a son and grandson in the race.\u00a0 Three generations of dog mushers on the iditarod trail.\u00a0 That&#8217;s cool.<\/p>\n<p>And, She\u00a0 knows that there&#8217;s a musher named Lanier in the race.\u00a0 That&#8217;s our family name and imagine my surprise this morning when I see that Jim is in first place.<a href=\"http:\/\/iditarod.com\/race\/musher\/?id=863\"> Jim Lanier is Winning the Iditarod!<\/a>\u00a0 Typically, we root for the &#8216;Red Lantern&#8217;, but because we share a last name, we are making an exception.\u00a0 Go JIM!<\/p>\n looking very dashing&#8221;]<a title=\"Mike Santos looking very dashing by Alaskan Dude, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/72213316@N00\/6806932024\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mike Santos [Not Jim Lanier- sorry] looking very dashing\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7186\/6806932024_3b59fda549_z.jpg?resize=573%2C640\" alt=\"\" width=\"573\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a>\n<h2>Other Folks we are cheering for<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/iditarod.com\/race\/musher\/?id=867\">Matt Failor<\/a> \u00a0 Moving up two spots yesterday and got into McGrath late last night.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seeingdoublesleddogracing.com\/\">Seeing Double Sisters<\/a>: <a href=\"http:\/\/iditarod.com\/race\/musher\/?id=842\">Kristy Berington<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/iditarod.com\/race\/musher\/?id=835\">Anna Berington<\/a> in 44th and 43rd spot respectively.\u00a0 And, we are rooting for them, cause well they are pretty and cool.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/iditarod.com\/race\/musher\/?id=894\">Dan Seavey<\/a> is hanging on to the lantern and it seems he is sticking with <a href=\"http:\/\/iditarod.com\/race\/musher\/?id=855\">Jan Steves<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/iditarod.com\/race\/musher\/?id=879\">Bob Chlupach<\/a>.
