MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE
Psalm 100
In her life among us Geraldine certainly made much joyful noise and gave so much tender love and affection to those she met along her path. She was LOVE personified. She was in her own world so many times, yet she had to live in a world that largely could not understand her either what she said, what she wanted , or what she did. She had to go where others took her and do what others wanted. She did not go easily or without struggle.
All of us who experienced her courtly hand kisses and her tender uplifted arms to hug were so very blessed whether we knew it or not. There was the kiss and the hug and then the call for “coffee.” It made us smile. For all her frustration and all the times she could not be understood, she never gave up giving those hugs and kisses. They are missed by many who have passed from her life and now more as she passes from ours.
Geraldine was a kindred spirit with the poet Emily Dickenson if for no other reason than she, like Emily, would choose to dress in all white head to toe whenever she had a choice. And she was so much of the time reclusive in herself as Emily was in her father's house in her attic room writing her poems. “Dine” was truly an artist with her star stickers, paint and her special singing voice.
So the poems offered here to celebrate “Dine” are from those of Emily Dickenson 1830-1886
Death is a dialogue between
The spirit and the dust.
“Dissolve,” says Death. The Spirit,
“Sir, I have another trust.”
Death doubts it, argues from the ground.
The Spirit turns away,
Just laying off, for evidence,
An overcoat of clay.
Emily Dickenson
Geraldine is right now trying out her new and perfect Spiritual body and speech and song, in complete harmony of joy and peace with all of Heaven. This is my hope and my prayer.
A death-blow is a life-blow to some
Who, till they died, did not alive become;
Who, had they lived, had died, but when
They died, vitality begun.
Emily Dickenson
