Glenn and Richardson HWY: Copper River Valley

This is a photo from the North looking south across Chugach Mountains and Prince William Sound to the Gulf of Alaska.
The road is the Glenn Highway with meets the Richardson in Glennallen. You can also see the Tok cutoff on the far left of the picture.
You can see all the major towns of the area in this photo - McCarthy, Chitina, Glennallen, Cordova, Valdez, and Whittier.
Glennallen is the highway hub for this part of Alaska, where drivers choose between Valdez, Tok, Anchorage, Chitina, and the McCarthy Road. That makes it a practical stop for fuel, food, weather checks, and route decisions before continuing deeper into the Copper River Valley.
From the air, the connection between inland highways and coastal Prince William Sound becomes easier to see. The same trip can include glaciers, salmon rivers, old mining towns, and ferry ports if the route is planned with enough time.
